I don't know

1.) One pet peeve that shouldn’t drive you crazy, but does.

I don't know.

no, I know.

I know what my pet peeve is, and it is the phrase 'I don't know', specifically when Andrew says it.

I have taken enough public speaking classes and listened to enough people to know that most people have verbal ticks especially when they are asked to respond to a question.

Andrew doesn't say 'like' or 'um' or 'uhhh' or make some other strange noises.  Our conversations go kinda like this:

Andrew is talking with his mom on the phone for quite awhile.  He hangs up.  Being the nosey interested person I am, I ask about the conversation.

Christy: Oh, you're off the phone.  How's your Mom?  What did y'all talk about?
Andrew:  I don't know.
Christy:  What?  How can you not know?  Y'all just spoke for over 20 minutes and you don't know what she said?
Andrew: I don't know.  I mean, I guess we just talked about stuff, you know.

I am making a quick run to the store, and want to include any of Andrew's needs in this run.

Christy:  I'm running to Walgreens.  Do you want anything?
Andrew:  I don't know.  Yeah, get me some Coke zero.

And of course the classic figuring out what is for dinner tonight.

Christy:  What do you want for dinner tonight?
Andrew:  I don't know.
Christy:  Well how about a pizza?
Andrew: No, I don't really want pizza tonight.
Christy:  Well then you do know, so what do you want or not want tonight.
Andrew:  I don't know.  Doesn't really matter.

ahhhhhh .... I just have to keep repeating 'my husband is intelligent, my husband is intelligent, my husband is intelligent'  ... he just doesn't know anything at first!

  1. Oh My ... now this is driving me crazy too! It sounds like his go-to phrase for when he needs time to think! I'd suggest screaming every time he says it!

  2. HAHAHA! That's too funny. I do the 'I don't know' thing to my hubby when he asks what I want for dinner and, of course, when he makes suggestions I then say 'no, I don't want that.' LOL. ;)
